Some good reasons to teach at The Academy of Fine Arts
Private Teachers - How the Academy Supports You:
- Teachers are not forced to keep non-practicing students. We want our professional faculty to have studios they enjoy teaching. Retention is important but not all important. Teachers are encouraged to drop consistent non-workers.
- Teachers are not required to make up lessons missed by students. Missed lessons are held to a minimum in this way. Teachers are paid in all cases.
- At the Academy, teachers just concentrate on teaching. There is virtually no paperwork, timesheets or other administration to deal with.
- Teachers never have to talk money with students.
- Teaching spaces are cleaned regularly and stocked with well-tuned pianos, metronomes, sound systems, sight-reading material and sharpened pencils.
- Monthly student recitals organized by the staff offer teachers ample short term goal opportunities for their students.
Teachers are encouraged to offer monthly performance classes for their students which can be used however the teacher wishes. Unlike many schools, teachers are paid for these classes.
Honors Competitions and yearly Jury Evaluations promote student practice.
