Musical Theatre at The Academy of Fine Arts
Singing/Acting for Musical Theatre (10 years to Adult)
Class will cover vocal health for the Actor/Singer, choosing good musical theatre songs for auditions, acting exercises, solo and group singing opportunities, overcoming stage fright, as well as practice performing in class. Each class will learn a group song which will be choreographed in the Musical Theatre Dance Class. Students not taking dance will still learn and sing the song at the recital. Select students may be asked to perform solo songs at the final recital. Students may be required to purchase a vocal book or original sheet music for their assigned song(s).
Each 9-week session – $180, plus $20 recital fee (for facility rental)

Musical Theatre Dance Program (10 years to Adult)
Classes will cover basic Broadway dance technique (including jazz and tap), focusing on increased flexibility, dance combinations and audition preparation. Class will be given the opportunity to sing and dance one group number with the Musical Theatre Singing Class. Those not taking the singing class may just dance the number at the recital.
Each 9-week session – $150, plus $20 recital fee (for facility rental)

(IBD) Intermediate Broadway Dance Class – (13 years to Adult)
Class is designed to improve techniques often used in Musical Theater productions. Emphasis on learning and remembering choreography as well as audition etiquette and techniques. Ideal for students with some previous dance experience and understanding of basic/standard dance vocabulary.

Two Class Package - Singing and Dancing for Musical Theatre
Take the Musical Theatre singing and dancing classes at the same time and receive a discount. Classes have been conveniently scheduled back-to-back to encourage participation in the full musical theatre training experience. One 9-week session goes from $330 to $310 combined (with only one $20 recital fee).

Dress Code for Musical Theatre Dance Class:
Students must wear appropriate attire to move during class, and we recommend purchasing the following for class and recital (please no street shoes on the dance floor). Since this class doesn’t focus on tap exclusively, tap shoes are optional (although students are encouraged to wear them if available).
