Musical Theatre Singing Class
This class is designed to help build skills and confidence in singing in both a group and solo setting. Students sing group numbers to work on basic performing and singing skills, and are assigned solos to work on their stage presentation, confidence and individual singing needs. Students work toward a semester recital and are required to sing in the group numbers at the recital. However, solo singing at the recital, although strongly encouraged, is voluntary.
Repertoire used in class tends to be popular and musical theatre in nature, although any kind of music is welcome and students are encouraged to make suggestions on what music they would like to perform. In the past, we have collaborated with the musical theatre dance class to sing and move to one song on the recital, or the teacher creates a basic movement routine to a fun song to help encourage their stage presentation.
