From Suzuki Violin Teacher Leslie Hoyle
Congratulations on a wonderful holiday concert on Sunday! I am so proud of the students' hard work and beautiful playing, and I know they enriched the lives of all who heard them.
David Wang (10-year-old) was the Concert Master of Preparatory Strings at MCYO Concert performed at The Clarice Center for the Performing Arts of Universality of Maryland on 12/16/2017.
As a parent, I am really proud and very thankful to Mrs. Leslie, for her fantastic teaching skills and great efforts in teaching David during the past two years! Congratulations to Mrs. Leslie, for her great contribution to the Academy which has had so many students perform at MCYO and PVYO for all these years!
Cathy (David's Mom)
Director and Academy Acting teacher, Phil Hosford, is starring in Rockville Little Theatre's rendition of Steve Martin's The Underpants. "It really is a hilarious script. When I saw the role of Theo, I knew I wanted to play it. It is based on a German play from 1910. Steve Martin adapted it and added his own absurd, lighthearted insanity to it. It is definitely one of the most fun roles I've played." The play is probably not appropriate for kids under a certain age. There is no foul language. But, there is adult humor and content.
The play runs just two weekends, January 26th through February 4th.

This fall all Academy students had an opportunity to participate in the Practice-A-Thon from October 8th through November 25th. They were required to log in the practice minutes every day including days that they were unable to practice. Although only 72 students submitted their completed charts, they received a small prize for their hard work and effort. Thank you to the teachers AND PARENTS who helped their children complete their charts.

We all know her as grand master of Suzuki Violin. Did you know that Leslie Smile can do this? She’s also a singer, a fiddle player and who knows what else. Thanks for brightening the school Leslie!

This month, Academy students donated 92 pounds of food to Manna Food. Manna Food’s mission is to take our donations and distribute them to those in need of help in Montgomery County. Thank you, Academy performers!

Triple threat program
What is a "Triple Threat?" In musial theater, you are a triple threat if you can sing, dance and act, all three!
The Academy has a program for that. Students who take two classes of the triple get the third class free. Where possible, classes have been scheduled so that students can go to all three classes in a row. Wednesdays and Sundays have the most convenience for most age groups.
At this point, five students have entered the triple threat program and we expect it to grow. Good luck to you all and we look forward to working with you toward your goals!
