What our Students and Parents are Saying

"Thank you for all you do to encourage the love of music for our little player." -Kara W.

“My son has found himself, his voice.” – Kathleen A.

"Our daughter really enjoys her acting class. The instructor is a great teacher with a wealth of knowledge and the skill to pass it on to his students." -Alina K.

"It's been many years (5-1/2 years) since we joined the Academy. We all enjoyed the course of learning (piano, singing, acting, and the Summer camp!) All instructors are excellent there! We have referred many friends who later joined the Academy." -Nancy Y.

"I have nothing but good things to say about the acting class. The instructor has inspired a love of acting in my child and we are grateful for that." -Susan M.

"Piano class is amazing! Our son start from very little to be able to play song both hands with constant beat. Thanks for teaching us" -Nida W.

"I am taking private piano lessons and find the teaching very inspiring." -Trong D.

"The Academy of Fine Arts is an absolutely amazing place. We are enrolled in their ‘Music in Me’ group piano program specifically designed for 3-4 year olds. They offer a positive learning atmosphere with the perfect mix of piano exercises with fun songs, dances, and play. Our piano teacher does an extraordinary job connecting with each child and keeping the class engaged." -Allen L.

"My kids love the Summer camp. It's their third year here." -Deepa B.

"Hello. Today's sharing was perfect. Just amazing. These are memorable experiences for us . Thank you! We hope to see you again next year, and wish you a happy life!" -Summer camp 2018 parent

"My daughter attended the academy first to learn piano and then to learn acting. The piano was excellent. But then she tried acting and fell in love with it. She had two excellent teachers when she was quite young and then, as she matured and improved, she began working directly with an amazing coach. He was so experienced in all phases that he instilled  knowledge and confidence. His practices were well constructed and focused while still letting the kids have a lot of fun. My wife and I were amazed at the quality of her performances (and those of the rest of the school). We moved out of state so we had to leave the Academy. However, our daughter is now in high school and continues her interest in acting. In a recent audition, she used one of the monologues she practiced at the Academy The audition went very well and made us remember just how wonderful her experience at the Academy had been. We are pleased to give the Academy our highest and unequivocal recommendation." -Tim B.
“My daughter really enjoyed the advanced acting class. She was able to perform in a variety of scenes, from comedy to serious drama which greatly enhanced her acting skills. She was able to concentrate on making her acting “real” and believable.” – Carolyn, mother of 13 year old. Olney, MD

“I love taking acting at the Academy. It's the best part of my week. It has helped me feel more confident.  I feel like I'm a better actress, and I think my voice projection has improved a lot too.  I really like this class because it's a lot of fun, and even though it's hard sometimes, I still love it.” – Rachel, age 12. Frederick, MD

"It was a great guitar lesson!  I got great tips on improving my technique in some areas that I’ve been struggling with and then we got into some fun stuff with blues progressions. I love the combination of learning the 'how' and 'why' (the theory behind the 'how'). Thanks!" – B.R.

“He loves it! It makes him a happy person; what more is there?” – Mary, Mother of Aiden, 5 years old

"I like the class because it's cool and really really fun! It got me ready for an audition at my middle school and being on stage is awesome!"
 – A.H.

"I believe my son is more confident and does better with his school presentations because of the acting class. The program seems to help mold pre-teens and teens into well-rounded young adults."
 – Parent of student

"All of the kids were wonderful. [My daughter] and I got there earlier enough to see some of the previous show too. It was great! Also, seeing the older kids perform at the end really gave [my daughter] something exciting to look forward to in future classes." – P.B.

"...her voice has grown exponentially since she started that work over 2 years ago. What an amazing teacher and we are so grateful to have found her."
 – D.B.

"My son has taken introductory group piano, and has progressed enormously throughout the semester. He started the class unable (and unwilling) to play anything on the piano, and now practices every day, often several times per day, without being asked, and has memorized at least 9 simple tunes. His teacher was very patient with him, even though he gets easily frustrated with difficult skills like the coordination required for piano. She was always sweet and positive with all the children in the class. The caliber of the teaching was also excellent - they not only do piano, but also ear-training and solfege singing. For the younger students, the parents stay in the piano classes, so you always know what your child is learning (or struggling with) and how to help them at home. And, you also learn the notes and piano skills yourself - so you really get two lessons for the price of one!" – D.S.

"We have been with the Academy for more than 11 years and Sarah has had several violin teachers. We find each teacher is different, but each of them is of a high quality and fond of teaching. We really appreciate them and thank you for what you provide to us."
 – X.Y.

“[My son] has had... his teacher since that very first group class for toddlers. Soooo patient and so caring. She is really good with children and makes you want to come to class every week. In the entire 3.5 yrs that I have seen her, never has she lost her cool or made any child uncomfortable or feel like they are not doing well. She takes her time to answer the questions and takes the time to explain the notes or the rhythms if she sees a child is struggling. I like the school's curriculum. I think it's been working great for [my son].” – S.M.
"My son has been studying piano at the Academy of Fine Arts for a few years now and I am very happy with his experience there. From my perspective, the most amazing things that are happening are: the fact that he tremendously enjoys playing piano, performing and having lessons with his very talented teacher, while at the same time progressing technically and playing with emotions/accents that make music beautiful. As evident at the recitals, there are a lot of talented, hard-working students here." – S.L.

"... Suzuki violin student and of your summer camp and we have loved our association with the Academy and just how personal it is."
 – A.S.

"Our teacher has been a tremendous voice coach and mentor to my daughter's voice career. We feel so grateful to have met her and had her as Alexandra's teacher. She is a jewel. Her patience and expertise have been out of this world. We adore her. Thank you very much!" – I.L.

"Thank you so much to the Academy for giving the best music education to Jeffrey."

"Thank you so much to The Academy of Fine Arts for having the best music teachers on board to nourish our kids and let them shine."
 – S.S.
