PROGRAM POLICIES
ABSENCE POLICY
Private Lessons:
I will make up any lesson missed by myself (sick days, weather closures, etc.) during the end-of-semester Make-Up Week. Due to my heavy student load I am not able to make up student absences. As a courtesy I will try to make up one student absence if I do not already owe a lesson for one of my own absences. If you know in advance that your student will be unable to attend a lesson the best option is to switch spots with another student.
Group Classes:
Any group class that is cancelled due to inclement weather or illness on my part will be rescheduled. Students may miss no more than three classes in order to participate in the group recital. More than three group class absences makes it difficult for students to prepare sufficiently and can undermine group morale.
LESSON BEGINNING/ENDING
Students should arrive 5-10 minutes early for lessons to allow time for unpacking and use of the rest room (etc.). Please wait quietly until the student before you has exited the classroom before entering. If you are the student before my break please understand that I have only 15 minutes out of the entire evening to use the restroom and have a snack – please allow me to leave the room quickly in order to do so!
HOME PRACTICE
Enrollment in the Cadence Suzuki Violin Program requires a significant commitment of time, care, and expense. Committed families value their seven-days-a-week investment into the child’s musical development. The greater the number of weekly practices the more growth the student will achieve. Students must maintain a minimum of three practices a week to retain their spot in the program. Generally, a beginner requires two or three daily practice sessions of 5-10 minutes each. As the student progresses, daily practice time increases, and turns into one longer practice.
QUESTIONS
After a productive practice week (or even a less-productive one!) you may have questions and/or concerns for me before the lessons. Please write these questions on a sticky note to put in the student’s notebook. This will allow me to process your question and address it in the lesson without the student potentially being embarrassed. If you have a question after the lesson, please send me a text or an email!
FOOD
Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle to lessons. Artists require hydration! Please, no food allowed in the classroom! Help me avoid pest problems!
